THE EXHIBITION

They have fled their homes travelling for days with the few possessions they need the most and their dreams for a better future. They got on death boats risking their lives, some of them survived, but other did not. They were sent to wait in front of closed borders and fences.

They are wives, mothers, daughters. They are all women and International Women’s Day should be dedicated to them.

As part of the events organized for International Women’s Day by the General Secretariat for Gender Equality and the Centre for Studies on Equality Issues (KETHI), an exhibition of photos of women refugees will be on show at the Syntagma metro station exhibition area until Sunday.

The exhibition features the work of seven photographers and photojournalists. Nikos Agelakis, Louisa Gouliamaki, Maro Kouri, Marios Lolos, Petros Tsakmakis, Vasilis Tsartsanis and Dimitris Photiou have captured images of women making the long journey from the Middle East to Europe via Greece.

The exhibition is supported by the Athens metro company Urban Rail Transport SA.
